About EasyJet

EasyJet plc, known as easyJet, is a British global low-cost airline group. Their headquarters are located at London – Luton Airport. It operates domestic and international scheduled flight services on over 1,000 routes in more than 30 countries via its affiliate airlines (EasyJet UK, EasyJet Switzerland, and EasyJet Europe).

 

 

EasyJet is ever expanding since its establishment back in 1995, their growth came from a combination of acquisitions, and global base openings fuelled by consumers need and demand for a low-cost quality air travel. The group, along with associate companies (EasyJet UK, EasyJet Europe and EasyJet Switzerland), operates more than 300 aircraft. It has 29 branches across Europe, the largest is located on Gatwick. In 2014, the airline carried more than 65 million passengers, making it the second-largest low-budget airline in Europe by the number of passengers it carried, just behind Ryanair.

 

 

Since the start of COVID-19, until August 2020, EasyJet raised over £2.4 billions new finance. £600 million of it came from the Covid Corporate Financing Facility (provided by the UK government and) over £400m were raised from placement of shares (at the London Stock Market). In November 2020, EasyJet announced that because to the pandemic and the recent lockdowns in many countries, it would scale back its reduced flying schedule to no more than 20 percent of their regular capacity. It also announced its first annual loss during the 25 year-history of the company.
