Oscars: What everyone wore on the red carpet

by Janice Medeiros

The stars walked on the red carpet once again for the Oscars awards ceremony last night. The 92nd Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles, California. ‘Parasite’ was the surprising winner of the ‘Best Picture’, but before the beginning of the show, the fashion was actually what everyone was talking about. Glitter, glamour and light tones were all hits for the movie stars of the big screen this year. Florence Pugh wore a teal ruffled Louis Vuitton dress, while ‘Little Women’ co-star Saoirse Ronan wore a peplum Gucci gown. Billy Porter continued his run of amazing outfits with a billowing graphic skirt inspired by the Kensington Palace. Natalie Portman, on the other hand, took a stand by wearing a cape with the names of all of the female directors who had been sadly overlooked for nominations this year.

Lets take a close look at some of the looks and outfits from that night:

Saoirse Ronan

Little Women star Saoirse wore a Gucci dress with a black and white top, peplum detail at the waist and a lilac flowing skirt.
The black material on the top of her Gucci dress was actually the same as the fabric that was used for her look at the BAFTA’s last weekend.
She paired the dress with Gucci drop down earrings and a stylish hair clip.

Renee Zellweger

The ‘Best Actress’ award winner wore a fitted one-shoulder glittering Armani Prive gown. From distance, the dress looks white but when you close up to it, there are little touches of blue and pink colors. She kept her accessories pretty simple with a David Webb ring and Jimmy Choo heels.

Florence Pugh

Florence went for a teal dress with a ruffle skirt and belted waist. That look was a custom made design by Louis Vuitton.
She also chose the right designer for her matching heels and diamond necklace and added to it an earrings by Maria Tash.

Sandra Oh

‘Killing Eve’ star Sandra Oh went for a super dramatic look with some statement sleeves on this Elie Saab gown.
The ruffles appeared at the bottom too and right along the train as well as her sleeves.

Regina King

After winning an Oscar last year, Regina came back to the red carpet to actually present an award this time.
She wore a pink asymmetric dress by the designer Versace, with kind of a cape that flowed into a train.
She paired it with six carats of jewels by Harry Winston.

Penelope Cruz

Penelope Cruz wore a black Chanel dress, which was high at the front and dipped down – back bare, into a train at the back.
She added a string of white pearls around her waist and a white corsage at the front.

Margot Robbie

Margot went for a vintage dress, also made by Chanel. The strapless dress was navy colored with matching strip ties on the arms.
The dress has an interesting ornate broach at the front and the actress kept the rest of the look paired back.

It took over 600 hours to make that dress, and it featured a hood and draped back.
She teamed that amazing gown with an orange lipstick and a choker necklace.

Mindy Kaling

Mindy brought a lighter look to the red carpet with her Dolce & Gabbana dress.
She teamed it with a very big diamond necklace by Chopard, which is apparently inspired by the actual jewelry from the movie ‘Ocean’s 8’.

Another Dior fan was Charlize Theron who wore an amazing black dress, with a slipped off one shoulder.
The dress had a split that goes all the way up her right thigh and a train at the back.
She added strappy stilettos and a Tiffany & Co. diamond necklace.
